Maa Brahmacharini undertook hard penance to have Lord Shiva as Her consort. Brahmacharini Devi symbolizes knowledge and wisdom. She is considered as the Goddess of intellect, spiritual knowledge, and austerity. She is often depicted with Rudraksha Japa mala and Kamandal. Goddess Brahmacharini is worshiped for spiritual knowledge, success and strength. Goddess Brahmacharini is also worshiped to pacify malefic effects of Planet Mars (Mangal).
