Goddess Baglamukhi Devi is the eighth amongst the Dasa Mahavidya Goddesses or 10 Great Wisdom Goddesses. She is primarily worshiped for victory over enemies. Another name of Goddess Baglamukhi is Maa Pitambara. The name Baglamukhi means the one whose face has power to control or capture. Yellow is the favorite color of Goddess Baglamukhi and hence She is often depicted in yellow dress on a golden throne. Goddess Baglamukhi is also worshiped for protection against diseases, ailments, accidents, enemies and all negative energies. Legends go that once an asura named Madan through tough penance and severities gained the boon of Vak Siddhi. With the powers of Vak Siddhi whatever he said about anybody, or anything would happen and come true. Soon, he started misusing his power to harass innocents. Then Goddess Parvati took the manifestation of Goddess Baglamukhi and held the tongue of the asura so that he may not use his powers and ultimately destroyed him. Thus, it is believed that with Divine blessings of Goddess Baglamukhi one may silence voice or speech of one’s enemies or adversaries.
