Orange Garnet

Orange Garnet is a beautiful semi-precious gemstone of orange color with striking hues. Its color can range from orange to reddish-orange, and sometimes having brownish tones. Garnets were used in ancient Egyptian, Rome and Greece. It was a symbol of power, status, strength and vitality. Orange Garnet is a manganese aluminum silicate; the presence of manganese gives it its characteristic orange hue. The hardness of Orange Garnet is 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, making it a durable stone. Orange Garnets were highly valued and initially used as collector's items for their brilliant orange color and high dispersion, which gives them a sparkling quality in 1900s. Orange Garnets are mined in African countries such as Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique and also in other countries such as Burma, US, Sri Lanka and more.
