Ati Rudra Maha Yagna is the most potent, powerful and elaborate Vedic Puja ritual which is dedicated to Lord Shiva in His Rudra form. The word Ati means extreme of ultimate, as the Ati Rudra Maha Yagna is regarded as the extreme or intense form of Sri Rudram chanting and recitation. The Ati Rudra Yagna traces its origins to the Rudra Yajurveda, The Yajurveda consists of hymns and mantras and it is divided into two namely the Shukla Yajurveda and the Krishna Yajurveda. In the Krishna Yajurveda's Taittiriya Samhita there are two chapters namely 'Namakam' and 'Chamakam' reciting them together is known as Sri Rudram recitation which is used during Rudra Abhishek. Different recitations of the Sri Rudram are named as different Pujas and are used for different purposes or to seek various and vary benefits.

The yagna is conducted often using a team of 121 Pundits each chanting Sri Rudram 121 times over a period of 11 days to up to a month. Ati Rudra Maha Yagna bestows good health, wealth, prosperity, success, protection, abundance and spiritual growth. It negates all negative karma of this and past lives and blesses with peace of mind and wellbeing in all aspects of life.
