She is often depicted with a self-severed head in one hand and three streams of blood sprouting out feeding two attendants Dakini and Varnini and Herself. Maa Chinnamasta is the fierce aspect of Goddess Shakti which symbolizes that She is both the giver and taker of life. She also symbolizes self-sacrifice and the fact that She quenches all thirst all knowledge and more. Often She is also depicted standing over the Kamadev and His consort Rati making love symbolizing that She is also Goddess of self-control. Goddess Chhinnamasta Devi is primarily worshipped for destruction of ignorance and ego and blessings of higher knowledge, spiritual upliftment and removal of bondages and desires.
