Dashavatara are the ten primary manifestation of Lord Vishnu. In various Yugas the Supreme Lord Vishnu took different incarnations to protect and establish Dharma and righteousness. The Dashavatara or the 10 primary manifestations of Lord Vishnu are Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Balarama, Krishna and Kalki. The first four avatara of the Dashavatara took manifestation in the Satya Yug, the next three in the Treta Yug, the next two in the Dwapara Yug and the final incarnation will happen in the Kali Yug. Legends of the Dashavatara are stated and glorified in numerous Puranas and Vedic scriptures such as Agni Purana, Skand Purana, Padma Purana, Garuda Purana, Linga Purana and more. In each of His avatara Lord Vishnu has revealed various significant teachings and insights of the mankind. He has shown that He will always protect Dharma and His devotees, and that truth will always triumph in the end, no matter how difficult the circumstances be.
