Shraadh Pujas

Tripindi means three pindis, during the Tripindi Shradh Puja; Pind Daan of 3 generations who have left the mortal world is done to liberate their souls. As per scriptures the Tripindi Shradh Puja helps one’s forefathers and ancestors gain peace which in turn leads to their blessings for the native. During the Puja three Pinds of rice symbolizing three generations of ancestors are made are worshipped and are offered various offerings such as water, food, sesame and more. It is believed that the 3 generations of a native reside in the pitru-lok but when someone has not received proper last rites or had an unnatural death then they are not at peace. This causes Pitru dosha in a person’s kundli leading to issues such as obstacles, health issues, delayed marriage, financial troubles and more.   

Tripindi Shradh Puja is an elaborate Puja which is mostly done during the Pitru Paksha period; but it is also conducted yearlong on special days such as on Amavasya. Tripindi Shradh Puja helps the departed souls on the path of liberation or Moksha. The rituals help both the departed souls and the family achieve peace. The Puja also helps usher in positivity and remove negativity. During the Puja the forefathers are prayed to, fed and their blessings are sought. Tripindi Shradh Puja is believed to bring profound benefits by appeasing the souls of ancestors and removing Pitru Dosha. Performing this ritual with devotion helps bring peace to the departed souls, which in turn creates a sense of harmony and positivity in the family.
